Lake Resources has executed a successful Stage 1 campaign involving extraction and injection tests, validating the viability of its hydrogeologic conditions for brine extraction at the Kachi lithium project. These tests have unveiled highly favorable reservoir hydraulic properties, bolstering Lake’s confidence in the potential for high-yield, production-scale extraction wells within the project’s core resource area.

CEO David Dickson emphasizes, “The results are indicative of high-yield, production-scale, extraction wells in the core resource area.” These advancements hold significant importance as Lake progresses toward the completion of its Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) for Phase 1, critical for attracting potential partners, offtakers, and investors seeking a sustainable lithium supply.

Lake’s Director of Geology and Hydrogeology, Michael Gabora, highlights the exceptional success of injection tests, surpassing initial expectations. Expanding Resource Potential: A Growing Lithium Landscape

Lake Resources’ commitment to expansion is evident through its continual enlargement of the Kachi Project. Recent upgrades in June 2023 have elevated the project’s resource estimate significantly, boasting more than 2.9 million tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent at the measured and indicated levels and an impressive 5.3 million tonnes in the inferred category, culminating in a total resource estimate exceeding 8.1 million tonnes.

As Lake Resources focuses on refining its technical prowess, the company is dedicating increasing attention to assessing the recoverability of its extensive lithium brine resources, demonstrating a holistic approach to project development.

Testing the Waters: Injection and Hydrogeologic Studies

Lake’s recent technical studies revolved around comprehensive pumping and re-injection tests in two wells, KB and KC, strategically positioned in the core resource area. These tests, which involved injecting over 33 million liters of water, confirmed the feasibility of injection in the core resource area and extended Lake’s confidence in the potential for successful injection in geologically promising regions beyond the salar core.

The data generated from these tests will be instrumental in developing a robust hydrogeologic model that will not only simulate but optimize extraction and injection wellfields, propelling Lake Resources further along its journey toward commercial lithium production.
